June

We are going to simplify and update the blog by month. Get ready for some picture overloads! June was our first real month out in DC so it was full of adventures and exploring. We had a blast!

We started out by going to the Barbecue Battle. It was just two blocks from our place and awesome. They gave out so many free samples that we came back stuffed.  Every barbecue place that you could imagine had a booth and it went on for blocks.

They had an NBA station and Taylor measured up pretty well with the pros!

June also meant that I started my internship. I was interning at a private speech clinic out in Falls Church, VA. It was an amazing experience and I learned that I really like the private sector of my field. There are so many opportunities and it is so flexible.
Taylor had already left for work so I had to take a mirror selfie. Lame - I know but my first day on the job had to be documented!

Taylor and I were incredibly blessed by the fact that most of the houses he was supervising were being build right in Falls Church. So we got to commute out together which was a blast. Some of my favorite memories from our summer will be our dance parties stuck in traffic on our way home.

We were also blessed to be able to see family quite a bit while we were out here. Anne came out and stayed with us for a few days. She got to tour around while we were at work and then we played at night it was great!

We went to an outdoor movie with some friends from the Barlow Center and won a sweet couch and food for the  movie. It was a beautiful night.

We also got to see Morgan and Bryan Hardy a few times while we were out East. One weekend we met up in Baltimore for the 'Hon Festival'. This festival celebrates the classic women from the 50's in Baltimore who called everyone "hon," which is short for honey. They wore the big beehive hair with the crazy glasses. So of course we needed to get our hair done. Morgan was the perfect person to do this with because she was so excited!

That's what I call a rat's nest!

Getting it out was a nightmare but it was worth it!

June was also filled with a lot of baseball.
Taylor's parents took us to an Orioles' game which was great, although I have never been so hot in my life.

The Rockies came to play the Nationals and of course we had to go. There were actually a few couples that were at the BYU Barlow center that were from Colorado so we went with them which was fun. That was another really hot game and the Rockies lost but I'm still a Nationals fan so I guess we can mark it up as a win either way.

The end of June marked our one month anniversary. It passed so quickly but it was a wonderful first month. Here's to many, many more.
